Midsummer Fire Festival – No touchy my gnome

In an effort to see how much exp I could gain from doing the fires on Bankous I encountered a level 80 undead shadow priest from the Horde. For some bizarre reason she choose to follow me to two other of the horde fires. The first of which was in Dragon blight, where I had met her. Had I been on Verdin she would have been toast. Regardless I had work going on I simply waited for pvp to drop before rezzing while handling customer inquires. Its not hard to guess a level 70 is not going to have most of the Northrend flight paths. So this shadow priest decided to follow me over head, I had no idea that she was doing so, nor did I realize anyone would be that bored to wait for my flag to drop to follow me into grizzly hills. Its not like I took a direct route there either. I only had at the moment 5 flight paths, one of which did not connect. Most of my pvp friends are not that patient, as they will look for someone else too kill. Right as soon as I reached the horde fire in Grizzly Hill she dropped out of the sky to get me. As before I waited 5 minutes to drop. But this time I thought I would hearth to Dalaran and head to Howling Ford. I did not think that I would see here again. Keep in mind I did not have the fp for here. The best idea for me at the time was to take the fp to dragon keep and head to the walrus town and take the boat to the howling ford collecting new flight paths along the way. It had too be atleast a good half hour before I reached the northern horde town in Howling ford between missing the turtle twice distracted by work. But right after I reached the fire in the Howling Ford sure enough the crazy undead shadow priest dropped from the sky again right after the quest flagged me. I can only guess that she was switching to alliance side checking to see where I was. This time after the flag dropped I took the rez, and headed for the northern alliance town after getting the fire there I hearthed, and plan to hit the rest of the fires later.

Surely she is not going to be there in 24 hours to get me. I wish I had wrote the name down. But getting pvp credit off Bankous is not going to be worthwhile as I have never pvped on him. Yes I have grinded him to exalted with two fraction, and even done a little raiding with those desperate enough. There is not going to really be a challenge between a level 70 that’s acceptably geared compared to a well geared 80.

However after doing most of the quests I did get 25% of a level and 50+ gold. Though part of the exp is from discovering new areas. I am not too inclined too do eastern kingdom and Kalimdor. But the holiday event is two weeks long.

Midsummer Fire Festival – The Flame Warden

I was doing my usual Sunday morning routine when friends were asking for someone to come along to mess with the fires in Ogrimmar and Thunder Bluff for the Midsummer event. I was a little surprised that it was today. But not as surprised that I would not be able to do all of the fires. I had already had credit for 90% of the alliance fires, and not one of the horde fires were on my list. The weird thing is I did all the fires on Verdin last year. At the same time I was going to work on getting the title for Plec, after all what could be a better title for a fire mage then “Flame Warden”. The same was true for Plec. Even though at the time I had hardly played Plec because I was not really a fan of my mage. But better gear would make things different.

For the Horde cities. Don’t be afraid to rez from the grave after you get the item from the horde city fires. It may be far easier then actually trying to get back to your body. Earliest is best.

Thunder Bluff

You will want to go to spirit rise I recommend going to the Northern Lift. I was able to make it there without dying. But then again one of the friends I was with was a mage and she used slow fall on me. So I am not sure how well it will go if you do not have away of jumping off the side safely.

Orgimmar

This was rather rough as it was heavily camped. I had ridden in the side car of friends hog. But we all ended up getting killed after getting the item from the fire. We all took rez sickness.

Under City

This was rather easy, however this was early in the morning. The fire is right inside the front entrance to the left. I recommend going early in the morning. Because around 3 pm server time when I tired on Plec it was camped by atleast 20 horde pvp lovers.

Silver Moon City

This is probable the longest run, but I was able to make it out a live. Your heading for the Court of the Sun, southern part.

This achievement is easier then the quest. What I did with 17 torches a friend gave to me was stand against the east wall outside of the neutral inn. I bound the torches to my number “1″ key and with my mouse pointed under me and spammed the number 1 key until I got the achievement. Doing this I was able to keep all 17 torches and hand them off to another friend that was working on the achievement for themselves.

The rest of the achievements are fairly easy most of which require you to go to your fraction and opposing fraction cities in almost every zone in Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, and Outlands. Though you can visit fire in Northrend (which are almost everywhere but Ice Crown it seems), though they are not required but nice if your working on the pet or the statue that turns you in to a dancing fire female Draenie. Hopefully blizzard fixes it to where those that previously did the quests last year can do them again so I can buy my pet I am 13 pets away from 75.

But here is a word of advice on the Burning Hot Pole Dance. Buy the shoes first. You can get a refund on them after you are done with the achievement so long as you return them before 2 hours. Something I regrettable found out was that the first item you buy at a time is subject too this 2 hour cool down, but every item after that is not. I wish I knew that in advance I could have bought the pet.

Noble Garden and Children’s Week

Noble Garden was a bust for me. Asides for the fact I am busy work wise, Blizzard did not seem to put a lot of thought into this holiday. After all for some bizarre reason there were a ton of people with low level toons (1 – 30) camping the spots where eggs were. The holiday which is now a required one to get the achievement meta relied way too much on respawn rate in a small area. Never mind that before the change eggs could be found all through starting zones. Only to be condensed in the second stage towns of starter zones. All of these areas where heavily populated by those hoping to get their main character (such as Verdin) the achievement for the dragon. I think Blizzard should have put a minimum level for getting the eggs. I also fail too understand the point of lower levels doing this, though this is a role playing server, and there may be idiots trying to get their bank alts decked out and perhaps a title. Normally I would not call a role player a noob. But if your not going too level your character, you a noob for wasting the time of those that actually put time into their characters.

I had hoped to get the rabbit on Rasbora, but it looks like that will be next year, I did however get it on Verdin.

Children’s Week, relied on no random spawns. For that matter the only randomness that it relied on was trying to find a UP group and pvp groups. Frankly if your not a pvp person you need a friend that does pvp. In my case that was Clouds. Just doing the pvp part of the achievement alone was enough to get me 7 pvp achievements. I never would have thought it possible to complete Alterec Valley in what had to been about ten minutes. But there were several points where Clouds had to push me around on his shammy to get me to spots to get my achievement. I recall something about having a fast mount and but being slow >.>. I now have all the Children’s Week pets.

Even if your not a nut like me that tries to do all of the holiday quests, the Children’s Week quest is worth doing for the Lower City rep, and if your 70 the gold is nice. One of the pets seems to have a mind of its own as it wanders around even if you are not.

I am rather happy now that the Children’s Week quest in South wind is working for Night Elfs as I had a problem since October trying to do the quests on my Night Elf Charcters. This quest nets you over 1000 rep with The Alianace.
